Haryana Police Intensifies Crackdown with Major Operations: DGP O.P. Singh Briefs on Anti-Crime Strategies

Panchkula, December 10, 2025 — Haryana Director General of Police (DGP) O.P. Singh today addressed the media, outlining the state police’s aggressive strategy to combat organized crime, fugitive offenders, and terrorism through a coordinated approach featuring three key initiatives: Operation Hotspot Domination, Operation Track Down, and a strengthened Anti-Terror Cell.

Operation Hotspot Domination: Zero Tolerance for Crime Hubs

DGP Singh detailed the initial successes of ‘Operation Hotspot Domination,’ a continuing state-wide drive launched to target areas notorious for illegal activities, including drug trafficking, illicit liquor trade, gambling, and gang-related activities.

  • Objective: To disrupt criminal networks by striking their operational hubs with speed, precision, and surprise.
  • Key Results (Recent Weeks): Extensive combing operations have been conducted across hundreds of identified hotspots, leading to a significant number of arrests and the registration of numerous criminal cases. Major seizures include large quantities of narcotics, illegal arms, and illicit liquor.
  • Strategy: The operation includes improved surveillance, increased patrolling, and joint monitoring with the civil administration, reinforcing the message that no safe haven for crime will be tolerated in Haryana.

Operation Track Down: Intensifying Pursuit of Fugitives

The DGP highlighted the ongoing success of ‘Operation Track Down,’ a focused campaign initially launched to identify, pursue, and apprehend fugitives, particularly those involved in gun-related crimes and organized syndicates.

  • Objective: To swiftly bring absconding and hardened criminals to justice, with clear accountability defined for police officers from the station level up to the state leadership.
  • Action Taken: The police have arrested thousands of wanted and notorious criminals under this drive. Recent directives have ordered intensified action against absconding gangsters, including:
    • Issuing Look Out Circulars (LOCs).
    • Seeking passport cancellation for violent offenders.
    • Invoking strict legal provisions like the Gunda Act against habitual offenders.
    • Monitoring the bail conditions of released offenders to prevent recidivism.

Strengthened Anti-Terror Cell: Proactive Intelligence and Security

Following recent security concerns, the DGP confirmed the strengthening of Haryana’s Anti-Terror Cell (or proposed Anti-Terrorist Squad – ATS), especially in the National Capital Region (NCR) districts.

  • Focus: Enhancing the anti-terrorism apparatus through better intelligence gathering, complex investigations, and continuous operations against suspected terrorist activities.
  • Inter-Agency Coordination: The police are working closely with central intelligence agencies, Delhi Police, and neighboring state forces to share information and conduct joint operations, underscoring the importance of a collaborative approach to national security.
  • Role of Citizens: DGP Singh emphasized that the most effective weapon against terrorism is the ‘alert common citizen,’ urging the public to immediately report any suspicious persons, activities, or objects via the ‘112’ helpline.

The DGP concluded by affirming the state police’s commitment to maintaining a secure environment and utilizing a comprehensive system—from ground-level operations to high-tech intelligence—to defeat criminal and terror syndicates.
